Spotted at an open mic event by Akala, Malachi Kirby is a truly gifted up and coming Actor/Director and Lyricist. Having honed his craft in theatre and TV, Malachi is poised to set the big screen alight. He was shortlisted for the ‘Outstanding Newcomer’ accolade at the 2011 Evening Standard Theatre Awards. His major film roles include My Brother the Devil and Offender. The latter is set in a young offender’s institute and also stars the outspoken British rapper English Frank. Kirby is a versatile artist and can switch from urban roles to classical roles with ease; treading the boards for the RSC one minute, rhyming in patois the next. That’s what makes Malachi such a stellar example of what The Hip-hop Shakespeare Company does best, he proves art is at its finest when it crosses boundaries.
